The design of this project was influenced by the nearby air force base with its industrial hanger buildings. The plan is separated into two wings, one for the public reading areas, conference areas, a public meeting room and the children's area. The other wing houses staff areas and book storage. The building is oriented to maximize natural light, capture breezes and to better define an existing green space to the north. The front plaza area welcomes patrons with a series of curved cast-in-place concrete walls for sitting and reading.
