Our firm was hired by Federal Realty Investment Trust to study the 6 block section of downtown Houston Street. This area has on the east terminus Alamo Plaza and on the west terminus the San Antonio River. The design looked at the revitalization of the existing historic buildings and new infill structures which included a mix of hotels, apartments, offices and ground level retain tenants. We were responsible for the design of all urban design components along Houston Street including 2 new river linkages. Improvements included amenities to prove pedestrian traffic, mass transit integration, and the design of a hotel at the corner of Houston and St. Mary’s Street.
